Oh, George R.R. Martin, you do know how to torture us...

As Game of Thrones fans know, no one is safe in Westeros and beyond, but those who have read the books on which the HBO series is based have soooome idea of what to expect, seeing as the story lines are more advanced there than in the TV episodes. However, Martin, creator of Game of Thrones, is here to squash that now-obviously terribly misguided view.

Spoiler alert!

At the 2015 Writers Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday, he spoke to Showbiz 411 about the upcoming season 5.

"People are going to die who don't die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy," he said. "So everybody better be on their toes. David and D.B. are even bloodier than I am."

He is referring to show co-executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. They have not commented.

Many beloved characters, including prominent ones, have been killed on Game of Thrones.

Also not addressed by series officials: Whether or not Lena Headey's pregnancy will affect the storyline of her character, Cersei Lannister, the acerbic, powerful Queen Regent of the Seven Kingdoms. The actress revealed on Sunday that she expecting her second child.

Season 5 of Game of Thrones premieres on HBO on April 12.
