The Newsroom is getting close to going black.

The HBO series will end with it last episode of the third season airing on Dec. 14.

"It's so hard to say goodbye," Thomas Sadoski, who plays Don Keefer on the show, told me at the premiere of his new movie, Wild (in theaters in NY and L.A. on Dec. 3 and nationwide on Dec. 5).

How so?

"How do you say goodbye to Sam Waterston?" Sadoski asked, referring the his TV legend co-star. "You know what I mean? You hug him and you say, 'Thank you,' and you move on."

"You can't even put into words what those guys meant to me," Sadoski continued.  "It's sad. It's sad. We're proud of the way we went out and we're proud of what we've accomplished."

The series, created and written by Aaron Sorkin, is about a CNN-like news network and also stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, John Gallagher Jr., Dev Patel and Olivia Munn.

"It's big," Sadoski said of the final episodes. "It's a big season. Some pretty impressive things happen this season, some pretty heartbreaking stuff, some pretty beautiful stuff."

Perhaps it's too soon to talk about a reunion, but Sadoski laughed, "The two-hour Newsroom movie? I'd be lying if I said it [wasn't] a nice ides. But we'll see in a few years when Aaron un-retires."

Sorkin revealed in May when he was halfway through season three that he probably won't be returning to television.

"I know the whole 'Never say never' stuff," Sorkin told the Los Angeles Times. "But I'm pretty certain I'm about to write my last three episodes of television."

He went on to tell the newspaper last month, "All these months later, I still don't see another series in my near future," he said. "But, again, you never know. Maybe I'll get another idea."
