CBSIt's amazing what The Good Wife can do when its not saddled down with a case of the week. Let's have that happen more often, K?
In "Sticky Content," Alicia and Frank Prady (David Hyde Pierce) got their campaigns into full swing with commercials, attacks and of course oppo research that gave us another wonderful Alicia and Peter scene. When Alicia stands up for herself there's nothing better. Meanwhile, the FBI informed Cary that Lemond Bishop ordered his death and Kalinda was not having it. Let's break down the main happenings:
I love how awkward Alicia is with the campaign stuff. She's trying to not get bogged down and start getting dirty, but is quickly learning she can't change or control the game. Will this be her ultimate undoing? Frank Prady gave her the oppo research Castro did on her and he tried to get Alicia to agree to no mud-slinging. But there was mud-slinging, however they are trying…so there's that. In the box of dirt, Alicia found photos of Peter (Chris Noth) with their mutual friend and his legal counsel Ramona (Connie Nielsen) out to dinner and getting very close. After a joint interview for her campaign, Alicia confronted Peter. He denied sleeping with Ramona—remember, they basically are just married in name only for the mutual benefits—but Alicia knows her philandering husband all too well and delivered this great speech because if Castro's people took the photos, other people will find them...
"And I won't stand beside you. Not again, Peter. Not in a million years. So, don't listen to me, keep lying to me, I don't care. But do listen to your political instincts. You want to be reelected? You want me to be elected? Then zip up your pants, shut your mouth and stop banging the help."
Boom. Alicia Florrick at her best. All this after the two discussed how they met and fell in love. There was love there, once, and viewers could really see how much Alicia has been affected by the scandal. Following their joint interview and seeing Peter with Ramona, Alicia went running to…Finn. Why was she there? She wanted something, that's for sure. But was pulled out of the moment, you could feel the presence of Will in that scene. Finn and Alicia's hands lingered, hinting at what we've all expected. Oh yeah, Peter and Ramona kissed in the car when he told her Alicia found out. So Alicia was right. Something tells me this will be their undoing.
While all this was happening in Alicia's world, the FBI, including Lana (Jill Flint), came to Cary with a tape of Lemond Bishop (Mike Colter) ordering his death. No big thing. Kalinda worked feverishly to figure out if the wiretap was faked. It wasn't. Cary got a bodyguard and went to Bishop to tell him he's not a threat and confirmed that yes, Bishop wanted (or still wants) him dead. Kalinda is in the middle of all this and it will be her undoing.
Gasp count: 2.
Some other things:
Diane made a reference to Robyn, so I guess she still works for Florrick/Agos and Lockhart…but she's invisible.
Speaking of Diane, where was she this episode?
Loved that the writers made reference to the use of "phone" and "call" because it's been something brought up years ago when the show first started and had characters say "phone" instead of "call."
Alicia: "This is stupid, it was good seeing you."
Finn: "What's stupid?"
Alicia: "Just even being…"
