Please let's have a moment of silence for ABC's Selfie. Actually, do the opposite and let the spirit of Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillan) compel you and take to Twitter, Vine, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat to express your heartache!
The ABC comedy from Suburgatory's Emily Kapnek, described as a modern-day My Fair Lady, has been axed. Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy veteran Gillan played the vapid and social-media obsessed Eliza who seeks the guidance of marketing genius Henry (John Cho) to help rebrand her image. As the two worked together, with her helping him be more social, sparks started to blossom.
Selfie joins fellow Tuesday night comedy Manhattan Love Story in the cancellation afterlife. However, the network did order a full season of Forever starring Ioan Gruffudd as an immortal medical examiner.
Other new shows this year to get the axe include Fox's Utopia and NBC's A to Z and Bad Judge. Like NBC's comedies, Selfie will air its remaining episodes.
Selfie's ratings weren't great—at 8 p.m. on Tuesday it had 3.7 million viewers and a 0.9 rating, but another episode at 8:30 p.m. that same night it held on to the demo rating and only dipped to 3.2 million viewers—but they were stable.
The cast of Selfie also included Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Allyn Rachel and David Harewood.
For the time being, Selfie airs Tuesdays, 8 p.m. on ABC.
