Following VMAs tradition, Sunday's live ceremony generated plenty of eyebrow-raising performances and moments, which in turn spurred hilarious reactions from the crowd, including celebrity nominees and fellow performers.

7. Rita Ora looked less than impressed as she watched rapper Nicki Minaj twerk up a storm during a racy performance of her newest hit, "Anaconda."

At the ceremony, the British pop singer performed her duet "Black Widow" with friend and hip-hop star Iggy Azalea. Fans had speculated that Minaj had thrown shade at Azalea while making an acceptance speech at the 2014 BET Awards in June.

In her defense, Ariana Grande was likely too overwhelmed with excitement about her win for Best Pop Video as she shook Katy Perry's hand and brushed past the rapper, the pop star's date. The two arrived in Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake-inspired denim outfits.
