As we first told you, sources said rumors that Robert Pattinson was being considered to star in a new Indiana Jones movie were false.

And now we have Pattinson himself on the record shooting down the claims.

"I don't even understand where the story started from," he told me earlier today while promoting his new drama The Rover with his co-star Guy Pearce and their director David Michôd at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills. "I didn't even know Indiana Jones was being made again."

Pattinson said he's been asked about Indiana Jones a lot ever since a report came out that claimed he was on top of Disney's list for a supposed reboot.

"There are the Star Wars rumors too," Pearce said. "Are you just going to redo all of Harrison Ford movies?"

Pattinson laughed, "I didn't even make that connection together."

Pattinson's name has popped up from time to time in casting stories about the new Star Wars movies. He told Access Hollywood he wasn't aware that Hans Solo and the gang were even coming back to the big screen.

The Rover is anything but a big budget action flick. While there are plenty of fight sequences and gunfire, it's a bleak independent about a man (Pearce) looking for his stolen car in a post-apocalyptic Australian outback. Pattinson plays an injured young man whom Pearce forces to help him find the vehicle.

"I really like it," Pattinson said of the movie. "I've watched it like three times, which is more times than anything I've ever done. I think it's quite a special movie."

The Rover is in theaters today in L.A. and NYC and will be released nationwide June 20.
