The president escaped the White House and made an unscheduled trip to the coffee hot spot Monday afternoon to grab a drink, exclaiming, "The bear is loose!" upon his departure. His beverage of choice—a venti-size cup of tea!
The charismatic leader greeted the locals and even blew kisses as made the short walk down Pennsylvania Avenue with his Chief of Staff Denis McDonough. The 52-year-old had some fun with his Secret Service detail during the excursion, telling them, "Let's test your wrangling skills" while he shook hands with people in the crowd.
This is the second time Obama has gone on a spontaneous outing in the middle of the day. Last month, the commander in chief ditched his motorcade to walk to an event at the Department of the Interior.
