Justin Bieber is getting a little support from Russell Brand.
After getting lots of backlash from his two past racist videos in which the teen singer says the N-word multiple times, Brand released a video this week saying the public shouldn't be so hard on the Biebs.
Pointing to a photo of young Bieber from his N-word video, Brand rants, "It was ages ago when he used to have that haircut. You can't do him for stuff he [has] done when he had that haircut."
"Unless we're going to explicitly say the role of celebrities is we're going to make them really, really famous and then we're going to destroy them and rip them up in a public square with fish hooks, which, you know as long as you don't get round to me, I'm not against," the funnyman goes on. "But we might as well own up to it if that is what we're up to, otherwise just let him off. Of course it's wrong to say the N-word, but he's a child."
Brand isn't the only celeb speaking out in support of Bieber. Whoopi Goldberg shared her controversial thoughts on the "Boyfriend" singer's recent hiccup with fans on The View.
"He's issued an apology saying he was too young to understand and he's Canadian. There's a reason I say this," Goldberg said. "You know, Canadian words — I'm going to say the word so get ready to beep me. N----r doesn't mean anything in Canada."
"I don't mean to say Canadians have been throwing it around," she added. "I don't think, that when they hear the songs everyone is playing, and every other word is n----r...What I'm saying is that, when you are 15 and you're someplace where that's not a word that you have associated with people of color, they weren't calling them that."

Goldberg also clarified her views on Twitter, writing, "Canadians, I was saying the N word is not something that lived in Canada the way it lived here, part of American history."
One star who's not defending Bieber? Drake Bell, who's been very public about his animosity towards Bieber in the past. "Donald Sterling caught saying racist thing and ruins career. @justinbieber gets caught and the excuse ‘He doesn't know any better' is used," Bell tweeted this morning.
