The A-list star was surprised with an early birthday celebration—Angie turns 39 tomorrow!—during her meeting with the Chinese press corps at a briefing in Shanghai's art deco Peninsula hotel for Maleficent.
Jolie, who was joined by Brad Pitt and the kids during the trip, was presented with a Maleficent-inspired birthday cake and the crew, along with a fair amount of journalists, sang "Shengri Kuaile" ("Happy Birthday") to her in Chinese.
So did she make a wish?!
She told reporters, "Like every mother, my wish every birthday is for my children to stay healthy, for my family to remain healthy, so I will continue that."
As you may remember, Pitt was banned from the country after he angered Chinese authorities with his participation in the film Seven Years in Tibet, but he joined on the trip to basically look after their six kids.
"Right now, they're doing dim sum classes with their dad," Jolie said of her kids. "The most wonderful thing for us is we've gone for walks. Local families have been very gracious and welcoming. It's been a wonderful experience."
Although the press conference ended with a cheerful surprise, Angelina did speak about Brad's scary run-in with Ukranian prankster Vitalii Sediuk during the movie's Hollywood premiere.
"People like that are the exception to the rule," she said. "Most fans are just wonderful. We've had a wonderful experience over the years, and we're very grateful for their support, and it will not change the way we behave."
