If Sharlto Copley has to have a beard in an upcoming movie, he may want to think about actually growing one.

The actor tells me that his fake facial hair in Maleficent wasn't exactly a pleasant experience.

"I found out that there is this glue that you can stick a beard on with it," Copley told me at the movie's premiere in L.A. "It was my fault though. I complained about that the fact that the beard was falling off all the time during fight scenes. They said, 'We have this glue that we can guarantee it was never come off'—and it did not!

"When we back to the makeup trailer, they had to sandpaper my face to get the beard off," he continued. "They warned me how hard it was going to be to get off, but I didn't realize how hard."

Copley admits he's over playing bad guys, but agreed to take on the villainous Stefan in Maleficent because of his character's message. "It's sort of a cautionary tale for men who let ambition run away with them at the expense of their families," he said.

Sounds like a certain recent Leonardo DiCaprio film. "Sort of like the Wolf of Wall Street in a Disney way," Copley said with a laugh. "Wolf of Wall Street with beards."

Maleficent was the queen of the box office this weekend with an opening of about $70 million.
