Paul McCartney is resting up following a brief hospitalization.

After falling ill and being forced to cancel the rest of his tour in Japan earlier this week, the 71-year-old singer was briefly admitted to a Tokyo hospital to get treatment for his sickness.

"Since contracting a virus last week that led to the postponement of tour dates, Paul received successful medical treatment at a hospital in Tokyo," reads a statement on McCartney's website. "He will make a complete recovery and has been ordered to take a few days rest. Paul has been extremely moved by all the messages and well wishes he has received from fans all over the world."

News of the rocker's hospitalization comes one day after it was announced he'd cancelled the rest of his Japanese tour over poor health. In a statement, organizer Kyodo Tokyo said McCartney "will regrettably have to cancel the remaining Japanese shows. Paul is still not feeling better and this cancellation is unavoidable".

McCartney also issued a statement to fans. "Unfortunately my condition has not improved overnight," he said. "I was really hoping that I'd be feeling better today. I'm so disappointed and sorry to be letting my fans down."

Feel better, Paul!
