Where is Casey Kasem?

According to wife Jean Kasem's attorney, the ailing radio icon is no longer in the United States, but the attorney admitted that he himself had "no idea" where his client's husband is.

During a hearing today, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy ordered an investigation into where, exactly, the 82-year-old Kasem is.

Alleged dysfunction within the Kasem family came to light last year when his grown children from his first marriage told a local TV station that Jean wasn't allowing them access to see their elderly father. It was previously reported that Kasem was suffering from Parkinson's disease, but what he has is Lewy body, which has similar symptoms and is often misdiagnosed as Parkinson's.

An attorney for Kerri Kasem, who had unsuccessfully petitioned for a conservatorship over her dad's affairs but today was appointed his temporary caretaker, said that Kerri thinks Kasem is somewhere in Washington state.

"I have no idea where he is," Jean's attorney, Craig Marcus, said in court. He argued that because Kasem was out of the state, the court no longer had jurisdiction over who provided his care.

"Your statements concern me even more," Murphy replied. He appointed a court-ordered investigator and adult protective services to track Kasem down.

Kerri sounded hopeful after the hearing, telling reporters outside the courthouse, "Justice has been served today."

Back in November, a different judge denied Kerri's conservatorship bid, stating in her ruling that Kasem seemed to be getting "good to excellent care" at his Malibu home. The judge had also, however, ordered the feuding parties to work out a visitation plan for Kasem and his kids by Dec. 20.
