Picture it: A redheaded lawyer with a penchant for ruffle blouses taking on the toughest cases while complimenting broaches and talking about cupcakes. Yes, we're talking about a TV series starring Carrie Preston as The Good Wife's Elsbeth Tascioni. And we're not the only people talking about it!

Preston, who also stars as Arlene on True Blood, picked up an Emmy for her work as the flighty attorney on The Good Wife. Elsbeth's mind is like no other. She's a character ripe for a spinoff—just ask Preston and The Good Wife co-creator Robert King. Preston has publically spoken about her desire to bring the world more Elsbeth and King admitted there have been some talks.

"We've discussed it internally," King told E! News. "It always comes down to where you can put your energy. Our worry is that—we're not the kind of showrunners, unfortunately, who can take our eyes off this and do two things at once. I wish we could because there's no one more fun to work with and better comedian than Carrie Preston. There's such a cool show there."

In King's mind, Elsbeth is essentially a female Colombo. "She's such a mental genius and you can kind of imagine her life like the way you could Colombo. You never met Mrs. Colombo, I don't think, but you kind of imagined his life. I think it's the same thing with Elsbeth Tascioni, she's such a pristine comic conception that would be lovely to explore," King said.

Preston has a similar idea for what this dream-come-true series would be. "A spinoff could really work in that kind of Monk way, a drama but has a lot of levity to it and, you know, it's the case of the week and how is this woman going to use all of her mind tricks to make it happen in surprising and entertaining ways?" Preston told E! News. "It could work, but I don't know how CBS would feel about that."

We don't know how CBS would feel about that eithert, but we know how we would. MAKE IT SO.

The Good Wife airs Sundays, 9 p.m. on CBS.
