Paul Wesley, The Vampire Diaries

Things are getting heated in the Salvatore house.

The Vampire Diaries season four premiere is just around the corner (23 days, but who's counting?!), and to say we're excited about it is putting it mildly. We may or may not have squealed when the opening scene was released yesterday.

So imagine our thrill when we got our hands on an exclusive clip from the season opener, which features Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) arguing over—you guessed it—Elena (Nina Dobrev)!

If it's up to Stefan, Elena will not be making the transition into a vampire. No, she'll be making the transition back into a human! Alas, it's not a feat easily reached.

"Way to get her hopes up for something that has never happened in the history of vampirism," Damon seethes at his younger brother, before blaming him for the whole situation by saving Matt (Zach Roerig) over Elena in the season three finale.

When Stefan defends his decision, saying it's what Elena wanted, Damon quips, "And now the world has one more quarterback. Bravo, brother."

Even though it was Elena wanted, Stefan still is brooding over his choice, telling his older brother, "I made a choice that I will regret for the rest of my life. Now let me try to fix it."

The Vampire Diaries' fourth season premieres Thursday, Oct. 11, at 8 p.m.
