Selena Gomez can totally relate to vampires.

At least she does to Mavis, the daughter of Dracula whom she plays in the upcoming animated flick, Hotel Transylvania.

The movie (out in October) centers on Mavis' 118th birthday and her desire to leave home and explore the human world.

"I relate to that in a way because I travel with my parents to most places I go," Gomez told me yesterday during a press preview of Hotel Transylvania. "I'm only in different countries and different parts of the world for less than 48 hours. I don't get to actually see the places when I tour."

Her dream?

"I want to be able to go out and take a cross-country trip with just my friends, on my own without any obligations would be nice," said Gomez, who turns 20 next month. "I've never done that before."

Hotel Transylvania costars Adam Sandler as Dracula, Cee Lo as the Mummy, Kevin James as Frankenstein with Fran Drescher playing his wife and Andy Samberg as the lone human who falls for Mavis.

We wouldn't be E! Online if we didn't ask Gomez whom she thought the hotter vampire was—Robert Pattinson or Mr. Sandler? "I'm a sucker for Adam Sandler any day," she said with a smile. "I would choose Adam."

And no, she doesn't think the family friendly movie is trying to unseat Twilight. "They're so different," Gomez said. "I didn't even think about that until people mentioned it today. I really didn't. This is way different."

Transylvania isn't Gomez's only movie coming to a theater near you. After wrapping Spring Breakers with James Franco and Vanessa Hudgens, she was off to Bulgaria to shoot Getaway, an action movie with Ethan Hawke.

"We had a stunt driver come in and teach Ethan how to do 360-degree spins because he wanted to do all of it himself," Gomez said. "First I wasn't in the car but then I got in and he was doing and I was like, 'You've done this before in another movie, right?' and he said, 'No, this is my first time.' I was like, 'Great, so this is going to be where I die.'"

Fortunately, Gomez escaped with just some little bruises. But, she smile, "I actually wanted to get a few injuries so I could be like, 'Yeah, I've got battle scars from making an action movie.'"
