Justin Bieber is probably familiar with Banksy's street art, but Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling? Not so much.

The 18-year-old pop star stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday while promoting his new album Believe. Letterman, 65, wasn't too thrilled by the Biebs' multiple tattoos.

"Do me a favor—don't go nuts, you know what I mean?" the late night host said. "Because more and more, you see the 'mural' and like the Sistine Chapel...it's too much."

J.B., bless his heart, was unfamiliar with the iconic Renaissance artwork…

"I'm not going for the 16th chapel look," he said defiantly, eliciting laughter from the audience.

Letterman couldn't miss an opportunity to poke fun at the Biebs' gaffe. He chided: "Canadian high school!"

Confused at first, Justin quickly realized there was some confusion on his part. Good-naturedly, however, he fist-bumped Letterman, who he'd jokingly called "grandpa" moments before.
