Elmo must really be tickled: Sesame Street is heading to the silver screen!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox has picked up the movie rights to the long-running educational children's show.

Longtime Sesame Street writer Joey Mazzarino will write the script for Jim Henson's beloved creations.

The PBS series, which premiered in 1969, has won 138 Emmys during its run.

This big-screen adaptation will be the third feature film to come from the series. In 1985, Sesame Workshop produced Follow That Bird, followed by The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland in 1999.
