We already knew Ian Somerhalder was "absolutely" interested in taking on the role of Christian Grey in the raunchy Fifty Shades of Grey saga. While he had previous only said "hopefully that could pan out," it looks like he's now taking it in his own hands to secure the part.

Ian hit up Twitter to continue his campaign for Christian. And it looks like he not only wants the part, but he's totally game to turn the controversial novel into an even more controversial movie.

"@BretEastonEllis -Id so love to be ChristianGrey w/you&Angelina Jolie. Ive only waited 10 years to do a movie w/u.Im grown up now-no worries," Ian tweeted writer Bret Easton Ellis.

In case Mr. Ellis' name doesn't ring a bell, he's the writer behind novels like American Psycho and The Rules of Attraction, which went on to become flicks that raised more than a few eyebrows in Tinseltown. Just look at his next project: Lindsay Lohan will be appearing opposite porn star James Deen!

And Bret Easton Ellis is definitely interested in adding Fifty Shades to his controversial collection, having started his own campaign on Twitter to adapt the S&M saga of Mr. Grey and Anastasia Steele for the big screen.

Bret tweeted back at the V.D. star, "@iansomerhalder I'm glad you're as excited by the prospect of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' as I am. (I've heard that Angelina is not involved...)"

That last part we could have told you forever ago. Despite Internet buzz that Angelina Jolie is in talks to direct, we knew it was just the rumor mill at its best—the babe may have been into taboo sex talk and all that erotic stuff years ago, but now she's strictly on the Oscar path.

But it seems Bret—who previously picked Alex Pettyfer as his Mr. Grey of choice—is down to team up with Ian to really create some hype:

"Rereading Fifty Shades of Grey: it's hard for me to think of Ian Somerhalder as Christian G. because I've known him personally for so long," he wrote (Ian appeared in Rules of Attraction, FYI). "I know Ian Somerhalder and how kinky he can be and yes, he's probably Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey, and he will go all-out for it… I'll call Ian tomorrow for Fifty Shades of Grey"...I get it, I get it...

So they're definitely onboard with each other…but are you satisfied with this duo bringing your naughty tales to the cinema?! Or do you still have other Christian Greys in mind?

(E! and Universal Pictures are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
