"I would like to explore that weirdness."

Jake Johnson says it best when we asked about his hope for New Girl's Nick, who went from the normal one of the group to the dude in overalls obsessing over a tomato garden. Oh, yeah. That's happening. When we sat down with Johnson to discuss Nick's slow but sure downward spiral, he said some things that made us a little nervous for the rest of the season, especially concerning Nick and Jess. Plus, do you want to get the real story behind the "True American" drinking game? Of course you do…

Tonight, New Girl kicks off its last run of episodes with "Tomatoes," which puts Nick into farmer mode. "Nick turns into a farmer and gives up on women and decides to put all that energy into growing tomatoes," Johnson tells us. "I just thought, 'Man, I want to see Nick in overalls with no shirt underneath.'"

Who doesn't want to see that? Of course, the tomato garden holds more than just juicy, delicious fruit. "As Nick gets deeper into the garden, there is a surprise guest that comes back that makes Nick rethink all his decisions and what he wants to do with his life, where he wants to be living and who he wants to be as a man entering into his 30s."

Trust us, this surprise guest does not bode well for Nick and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) fans, although you should all be comforted by this piece of scoop: "There's a lot of Nick-Jess stuff at the end of the season. Something is going to go down."

And finally, we present Jake Johnson's "New Girl Thoughts and Musings":

Real Apps 2.0: "I would like to see Nick and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) start a side business. I think when Nick and Schmidt are together, they are both at their dumbest, and I think they bring out the worst in each other, and that's a good thing."

Quarterbacking Guest Star: "I would like Peyton Manning to come on New Girl. [Bring] a little bit of class in season two." Johnson wants him to play Nick's boss at the bar, and we approve of this idea.

"True American" True Story:  We had to ask about the rules to the best drinking game ever, and Johnson revealed what we feared most: There are no rules. "We were all reading the script and it said, 'Now they all play a drinking game,'" he tells us. "And I think it was Lamorne (Morris) who finally said, "What are the rules to True American'? And [the writers] go, 'To be perfectly honest, we're not sure.' There's a lot of flaws in the logic of the game. So in terms of the rules of playing it, you just have to get drunk and yell presidents and throw beer in corners. That's it."

Make sure you watch until the very end, because once he started to get deep while talking about his acting methods, we had to put him in check with a method we like to call "cooling down the talent."

New Girl airs tonight on Fox after Glee.
