She had us at "hello"!

Hard to believe that it's been 16 years since Renée Zellweger stole our hearts as an idealistic but lovelorn assistant in Jerry Maguire.

But the singularly talented actress, who turns 43 today, has since rustled up a highly acclaimed career that's showcased her spectacular versatility—not to mention her impeccable fashion sense.

Just how versatile? How's this for a knockout: For three consecutive years, starting in 2002, Zellweger racked up acting Oscar nominations for flicks in three wildly different genres—the kooky comedy Bridget Jones's Diary, the musical Chicago and the period drama Cold Mountain, which finally garnered her a Best Supporting Actress statuette.

She's also accumulated quite the string of A-list paramours, including Jim Carrey and Bradley Cooper, along with an ill-fated and short-lived marriage to Kenny Chesney.

We can't wait to see what she'll wow us with next. (Hint, hint, Bridget Jones producers: Get that long-gestating threequel together, ASAP!)
