We're not sure if Dancing With the Stars captured the flavor of Motown's 1960s heyday exactly..but the Temptations, Martha Reeves, Smokey Robinson and Berry Gordy's presence in the ballroom—combined with Gladys Knight pressing on—sure made for some warmhearted vibes.

But despite being called the most charismatic dancer on the floor, Gladys again finished the night at the bottom of the leaderboard. Meaning, it was up to the celebs who aren't iconic hitmakers to pick up the slack.

So who was the best thing to happen to the competition tonight?

After round one, Jaleel White was back to sharing the top spot after a cha-cha that proved the promise he showed that first week wasn't just beginner's luck. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!" raved Bruno Tonioli, while both Carrie Ann Inaba and Len Goodman welcomed the actor back to the competition.

Katherine Jenkins made it once more to the brink of perfection, her samba held back from the promised land only by Len's stubborn 9. The head judge has yet to give a 10 this season, and the perfect 30 remains elusive.

But he did nickname Katherine the very unsexy-sounding "midwife"—because she delivers every week! Get it?! And Len had only just begun...

"I know you were disappointed with me last week," the Brit told Donald Driver following the NFL star's dashing foxtrot. "I felt you were going to come out and show me some fireworks. You didn't. You came out and exploded on this floor!"

Not so dashingly, Maria Menounos stumbled a bit—literally—during her foxtrot and, according to Carrie Ann, never quite recovered.

Roshon Fegan actually got better marks than we expected after Len critiqued his rumba for being "clipped and jerky." But he was surpassed this week by Melissa Gilbert, who was praised for her "blooming artistry."

"Pure and utter filth—and I loved every minute of it," Bruno raved about William Levy and Cheryl Burke's pulse-pounding rumba, which left the Cuban actor drenched in sweat.

But though Bruno said the pair were "wired for sex" and gave them a 10 for their efforts, Carrie Ann felt moments of detachment, and Len was so unenthused, Bruno cracked that his fellow judge needed Viagra.

At the end of the night, the group cha-cha marathon unsurprisingly resulted in a win for Katherine and Mark Ballas, who notched another 10 points for their crisp performance and ended up alone atop the leaderboard.

William was also able to inch past Donald, and Melissa ended up tied with Maria when the scores were all added up!

Here's how the leaderboard stacked up:

Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas: (29+10) 39
Jaleel White & Kym Johnson: (29+8) 37
William Levy & Cheryl Burke (27+9) 36
Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd: (27+7) 34
Maria Menounos & Derek Hough: (26+4) 30
Melissa Gilbert & Maks Chmerkovskiy: (24+6) 30
Roshon Fegan & Chelsie Hightower: (23+5) 28
Gladys Knight & Tristan MacManus: (21+3) 24
