Genevieve Sabourin, the French-Canadian actress who was collared in New York for allegedly stalking the 53-year-old actor, was arraigned late Monday on aggravated harassment and stalking charges in Manhattan Criminal Court and a temporary restraining order has been issued against her.
So what was she doing exactly that landed her in trouble with the law?
Per the criminal complaint released by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, Baldwin met Sabourin "briefly" for dinner in the fall of 2010. But thereafter, he began receiving what prosecutors describe as "a series of annoying and unsolicited communications" from her via email and text.
But things really came to a head over the last week or so when the Montreal native flew to New York and tried to track him down, shooting off a flurry of emails demanding he marry her despite the fact Baldwin just popped the question to 28-year-old yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas.
Assistant D.A. Zachary Stendig laid out that troublesome behavior at her arraignment, noting that on March 31 a woman bearing Sabourin's description pulled into the 30 Rock star's driveway at his Hamptons estate, prompting him to call 911.
"I need to start my life with my new name…in my new country help me my newly [sic] husband, you!" she wrote in a missive dated April 4.
On April 5, she showed up at a screening of The Last Tango in Paris he hosted at Lincoln Center.
Two days later, the French-Canadian siren sent another email that prosecutors say caused Baldwin extreme anxiety.
"There are very crucial/vital things I need here and today, I want you to be the one giving them to me. I need to see you," she said in an email dated April 7.
In another, she added: "I need you now, please Alec come and pick me up now. I am less than 10 min. away from you tonight. Say I do to me."
And apparently failing to grasp that Baldwin has found love with another woman, Sabourin in yet another missive pleaded with the Capital One pitchman to help her go on "creating Genevieve Baldwin."
The next day, she appeared outside his Greenwich Village apartment at approximately 4:30 p.m., resulting in her arrest.
Sabourin, 40, met Baldwin on the set of 2002's The Adventures of Pluto Nash, in which the thesp had an uncredited cameo and she was working as a unit publicist. According to prosecutors however, despite repeated requests from Baldwin to stop contacting him, her conduct "escalated" to the point where he began to fear for his safety.
Sabourin's defense attorney, Julie Sender, however told the court that Baldwin had nothing to fear since he and Sabourin carried on a two-year relationship, though she didn't say whether it was ever physical.
"They met. They had dinner. They had a mutual relationship, with texts, emails going in both directions," the legal eagle said.
She denied her client's actions were criminal, noting "her name has been sullied" because of this.
In any event, the judge released Sabourin without bail, but prohibited her from contacting the thespian.
Meanwhile, a source close to Baldwin tells E! News the two crossed paths during Pluto Nash in 2002, but that there was "nothing after that until a friend asked him to offer her advice in 2010."
Regarding the tidbit in the criminal complaint that Alec and Genevieve dined back in 2010, the source notes that "this was a professional dinner."
Furthermore, the insider confirms that much of what has been going on concerning Genevieve's emails and trying to get in touch with Baldwin has been "her issue" and nothing to do with him reciprocating.
For his part, Baldwin has denied a relationship and hit back at Sabourin on Twitter today, suggesting she was a publicity seeker.
"Isn't it odd when an accused stalker is in handcuffs, being taken away by the cops, yet smiles for the camera," Baldwin tweeted.
And rubbing it in even more, he also tweeted his bride-to-be: "I am lucky and grateful in my life now, no matter what the motivations of certain others."
