Lady Gaga is coming to the defense of a little monster who can longer speak for himself.
Tragically, this week, 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer, an avowed Gaga fan who was tormented by years of bullying and who even posted his own "It Gets Better" video on YouTube earlier this year, took his own life.
And Lady Gaga took to Twitter to let her fans know, it will not be in vain.
"The past days I've spent reflecting, crying, and yelling," she tweeted yesterday. "I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someones life.
"Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 yrs old, took his life because of bullying," she continued, linking to the New York state teen's YouTube message. "Bullying must become be illegal. It is a hate crime."
After several minutes, it seemed she had figured out what steps to take.
"I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey."
Hundreds have responded in kind, expressing support through Twitter.
As for President Barack Obama, he'll be attending the second annual Federal Partners in Bullying Prevention Summit in Washington, D.C., this week to discuss appropriate social and local ways to combat rampant school bullying. It's unclear as yet whether Gaga also plans to attend the summit and if that's where she's hoping to speak with him, or if she has another meeting in the works.
Rodemeyer took his life Sunday, after what his parents claimed were years of taunting about his sexuality. In the past few months, despite discouragement from counselors, he posted suicidal thoughts on social media, some of which were met with horrifically cruel taunting.
In the video he posted last May, Rodemeyer cited Gaga as an inspiration.
"Lady Gaga, she makes me so happy. She lets me know that I'm born this way. And that's my advice to you from her. We were born this way. And all you have to do is hold your head up, and you'll go far. Just love yourself."
Jamey's mother, Tracy Rodemeyer, told CBS News that her son's funeral will take place this Saturday. She will bury him in a Lady Gaga T-shirt that reads, simply, "Born This Way."
