Does Whitney Houston Have What It Takes to Pull Off Another Comeback?

Jordin Sparks is practically begging Houston to join the Sparkle remake, but can Whit handle it?

Another year, another (attempted) comeback. If you're Whitney Houston, that is.

And with Whit in talks to star alongside Jordin Sparks in the remake of Sparkle, it seems that the leggy broad who is equally as famous for her meltdowns as her killer vocals is again trying to reboot her career.

And Jordin is practically begging for it all to happen: "Please let her be in it!" she squealed to E! News.

But will Jordin get her wish?

It's hardly a slam-dunk, and doubtful at best. Here's the break down on why:

2002: Whitney has a primetime interview with Diane Sawyer, to whom she admits dabbling with alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and pills but claimed "the party's over."

2004: Houston first enters rehab for a substance-abuse problem, but checks out after only five days. Her rep insists all is fine and she prefers to continue treatment on an outpatient basis, where she has a chaperone for 30 days.

Then begins the first round of comeback alerts:

Whitney teams up with Natalie Cole and Dionne Warwick for a tour of Europe and plays her first shows in China. She also works on her latest album since her 2002 release of Just Whitney

2005: Whitney checks back into rehab.

2009: Whitney releases her album, I Look To You, which entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1. She heads out on tour to promote the album.

2010: Whitney cancels multiple tour dates due to an upper respiratory infection and amidst horrible reviews. Her camp issues a statement that she "is in great health" after stopping smack in the middle of "I Will Always Love You" to take a sip of water.

May 2011: Whit checks back into rehab

Now, if the third time's the charm in Whit's case, then she may have a strategy going for her, but based on this history, we're worried the gal may pull a LiLo, or worse, a Charlie Sheen, on set.

We're rooting for ya, Whit, but you desperately need to handle your issues with substance abuse before you can get your head clearly back in the game.

Either that, or maybe good ol' Charlie can loan you some tiger blood. Best of luck on comeback numero tres.
