In Russell Brand's humble opinion, if there's one thing the British tabloids lack, it's a sense of humor.

The funnyman is firing back at two U.K. newspapers for making hay out of a wisecrack he made about the Paralympics during a recent stand-up gig in London when they reported that several Paralympians were offended by his act.

So what dastardly joke did the English comic say that got him in trouble? And what does he make of the kerfuffle?

Per the Daily Mail and The People, Brand's purported diss came when he was doing a bit about the upcoming London Olympics.

"I don't give a f--k about the Olympics. It's boring Blue Peter sport and a waste of taxpayers' money," the Get Him to the Greek star told the audience at the Pleasance Theatre in Islington, North London. "At least the Paralympics have some kind of novelty value or something."

That last quip about being called a "novelty" didn't go over too well with a few of the physically challenged athletes.

The Mail quoted one of them, 21-year-old Natasha Baker, as saying Brand's comments were "patronizing and upsetting" since Paralympians train as hard as non-disabled athletes, even after suffering through life-threatening illnesses. Another, two-time gold medalist, David Weir, suggested, "Brand obviously hasn't met any Paralympians."

For his part, Katy Perry's hubby took to Twitter where, in response to his critics, he posted a pic of himself and another Paralympian with the very tabloids in question.

"Congratulations Chris and Aussie WC rugby team. Daily Mail/People stop being silly," he tweeted.

Guess he's a fan after all.
