No, it's not what you think. In his new flick Lincoln Lawyer, Matthew McConaughey isn't taking to the big screen in a lavish biopic about our 16th president. (Daniel Day-Lewis and Steven Spielberg are handling that.)

Think very literally. That's right. Matty's playing smarmy defense lawyer Mickey Haller, who literally works out of his Lincoln Town Car, complete with a "NTGUILTY" vanity plate.

But his bottom-feeding days of defending drug dealers and bikers are over thanks to...Ryan Phillippe?

Have to say, even we were taken in by Phillippe's turn as a manipulative, wealthy Beverly Hills playboy who calls on McConaughey to defend him. The guy's showing off some acting chops as a man accused of rape and attempted murder.

But don't let that panicky tone he uses when professing his innocence throw you. Because after that, it's all creepy sideways glances and fast cuts of Ry hanging in some less-than-wholesome environments.

Has Matty gotten in over his head with this case? Life is so much easier when it's all surfing and jogging shirtless on the beach. Why complicate things?

Check out this new trailer and tell us what you think. Lincoln Lawyer hits theaters March 18.
