A day after finding his own engagement news suddenly upstaged by ex-wife Jessica Simpson's, Nick Lachey is keeping things downright pleasant.
What was his message to Jessica and fiancé Eric Johnson?
"I wish her the very best," he said in a statement to E! News.
That mirrors what Jess had to say after he and Vanessa Minillo got betrothed last week. "I am extremely, extremely happy for him," Jessica said while phoning in to Ryan Seacrest's radio show.
"My mom actually called me and said that everyone was saying that I was 'saddened.' I was just in complete shock. I couldn't be more happy for Nick. Our relationship was over a really long time ago, and it would be nice if everyone could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa. I do, and I wish them nothing but the best."
Nick and Jessica broke up in 2005. But based on their mutual well-wishes, maybe there's a double date in their future?
