Comedy CentralBy now you've already confronted—or completely ignored in the holiday merrymaking—the piece on Jezebel arguing that Jon Stewart—aka the sensitive, cerebral sexy man for liberal ladies (and men!)—might just be running a Daily Show workplace that's not friendly to women.
Stewart even made note of it during a rant last week on the show. (OMG, he listens; how sensitive is that!)
But with the story out, now Stewart's female staffers feel emboldened to speak out about him, and here's the scoop…
The Comedy Central host is a total dreamboat who "has worked hard to create an environment where people feel respected and valued regardless of their gender or position."
Or as they continue: "But what's he really like? Well, for a sexist prick, he can be quite charming. He's also generous, humble, genuine, compassionate, fair, supportive, exacting, stubborn, goofy, hands-on, driven, occasionally infuriating, ethical, down-to-earth and–a lot of people don't know this–surprisingly funny (for a guy brimming with "joyless rage")," reads the post. "What's the word that means the opposite of sexist? That one.
OK, you get the point. The people who work for him like him, or (cue evil music) are willing say anything to keep working for the sexist prick. But we think the former, really.
Sure, we have our issues with The Daily Show—what is with all the prop humor lately?—and all joking aside, sexism or racism in any workplace is not to be tolerated, even at a show that comes on after Tosh.0. And Jezebel apparently did try to get that side of the story beforehand, so props to them for trying to be all fair and balanced about it.
So we're willing to take the staffers at their word. Because we actually care about what they have to say.
