Los Angeles Dodgers star Matt Kemp surprised the sexy singer on Saturday with a 22nd birthday party in Phoenix, AZ, E! News has learned.
Rihanna was reportedly "shocked" by the ball player's gesture, apparently expecting a small get-together with a few friends. A source tells E! News she had no clue what was really in store for her.
So how did go?
Pretty great. Kemp had been planning the event for at least a month to make sure Rihanna's birthday was special, a source said.
There were flowers, Sprinkles cupcakes, tiki torches in the pool, engraved bottles of Ace of Spades and Johnny Walker Blue, as well as a Jamaican chef who cooked lots of appetizers for the crowd.
Around 40 people showed up, including Rihanna's friends and some of Kemp's baseball pals.
"There was a photo booth customized specifically for the party and an Ace of Spades toast upon Rihanna's entrance to the room," the source said. "After the toast, "So Hard" came on and Bridgette the Midget entered and danced around her. Her face dropped! She was stunned! It was nothing distasteful, just fun and the guests got a kick out of it."
Later, Kemp brought out a cake decorated with the songstress' various tattoos while everyone sang "Happy Birthday."
"It was so sweet and she was really surprised," the source said. "She looked just beautiful."
Kemp didn't stop his surprises with the singer's party, however.
According to the source, he gave the birthday girl a custom diamond necklace from Gabriel Jewelers.
Although the couple has played coy about their budding relationship, they reportedly spent the entire weekend together, first going out on Friday night with a group of 30 on a party bus to new Arizona nightclub Revolver, and then ending the weekend with a group brunch on Sunday.
