Bad decisions clearly run in the Lohan family. As do repeat offenses.

Lindsay's ever estranged father was once again arrested in New York yesterday morning after violating a restraining order against him by calling his ex-girlfriend, Erin Muller, at work.

When will people (and by people, we mean Michael Lohan) learn: Michael Lohan and phones do not mix.

Muller's attorney, Bryan Konoski, told the New York Post that the violation occurred on Jan. 21, when Lohan breached the order of protection by dialing his ex-ladyfriend.

As a result, Lohan was booked with criminal contempt for the indiscretion—as it happens, the second time in as many months that he's erred on the side of illegality in his troubled relationship.

Back in December, he was arrested for phoning Muller and faced the exact same charge, while as far back as last April he was arrested for making a series of threatening phone calls to his ex.

Gee, can't imagine why she let this catch go.

In the latter instance, Lohan was accused of threatening suicide if Muller left him and while he denied the allegations, a judge said he would hold off prosecuting him on an aggravated harassment charge if he managed to stay out of trouble for a year.

It's times like these it would really help him to keep a calendar handy.

Lohan is due back in court to face the new charge on Feb. 25.
