Talk about medals of honor.
Kathryn Bigelow's Iraq war action-thriller, The Hurt Locker, has just banked a couple more big prizes in the run up to its inevitable Academy Award nomination, scoring top honors from the Chicago Film Critics Association and at the Satellite Awards.
Hurt has also been named the year's top film by the New York Film Critics Circle, the Boston Society of Film Critics, the Los Angeles Film Critics, the San Francisco Film Critics, the Las Vegas Film Critics and the Gotham Independent Awards. It also was nominated for the Golden Globes and SAG Awards and made the AFI's list of the year's Top 10 flicks.
Among its other Chicago accolades, Hurt Locker won for Best Actor (Jeremy Renner), Best Director (Bigelow), Best Screenplay (Mark Boal) and Best Cinematography (Barry Ackroyd).
Best Supporting Actor meanwhile went to the usual suspects: Christoph Waltz for Inglorious Basterds and Mo'Nique for Precious.
At the Satellite Awards, The Hurt Locker also snagged Best Director, Actor and Film Editing, while Nine took home Best Musical and Best Cinematography.
