It's an improvised explosive device and it's blowing up all kinds of year-end awards lists.
After nabbing top honors from the New York Film Critics Circle and the Los Angeles Film Critics, among others, and picking up a key nomination at this morning Golden Globe announcement, Kathryn Bigelow's searing war thriller, The Hurt Locker, added another accolade in the form of Best Picture from the San Francisco Film Critics. The group also awarded Best Director to Bigelow.
Best Actor went to Colin Firth for A Single Man; Meryl Streep collected more Best Actress hardware for Julie & Julia; Mo'Nique kept up her Oscar push with Best Supporting Actress for Precious; and, in a shocker, Christian McKay won Best Supporting Actor for his spot-on impression of Orson Welles in Me and Orson Welles, beating out presumptive Academy Award nominee Christoph Waltz of Inglourious Basterds.
Despite Pixar having a Bay Area-based HQ, the San Fran reviewers were down on Up and instead selected Coraline as Best Animated Feature. The complete list after the jump.
