Alexandra Kerry doesn't have to worry about swift boats, just boozy rides.

The filmmaking eldest daughter of former presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry was busted early Thursday for driving under the influence, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department confirms to E! News.

Dad's not gonna be too happy about this.

Cops pulled over the 36-year-old Kerry, an award-winning writer-director, for driving erratically around 12:40 a.m. She was booked at the Hollywood Division station, then released after posting $5,000 bail around 5:30 a.m.

"It was a misdemeanor traffic stop but then it morphed into the DUI arrest," says Officer Bruce Borihanh.

Kerry is a sometime actress who had a bit role in David Mamet's 2000 film State and Main and a graduate of the American Film Institute. She's best known in Hollywood circles for her 2004 Vietnam War-themed short, The Last Full Measure, which premiered at Cannes. She also produced the 2008 documentary Be Like Others, which explored the subject of transsexuals in Iran.

A court date has been set for Dec. 10.
