The newest stars of Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta have been struck by tragedy.

Ashley Jewell, better known as A.J. and ex-fiancé of music hitmaker Kandi Burruss, has died after a fight outside an Atlanta area strip club, local station WBSTV reports.

"It appears he was involved in an altercation in the parking lot and he received a severe blow to the head," Atlanta Police Lt. Keith Meadows told reporters.

Burruss, 33, tweeted about her loss shortly after the news broke, saying: "I could never n a million years imagine this happening. please pray for AJ's children. that's who im the most concerned 4." After telling fans that she was on her way to her uncle's funeral, Kandi continued: "im just in one of those moods where i dont wanna talk, i dont wanna b held & told its gonna b ok. i just wanna cry myself 2 sleep, alone."

Atlanta police have made an arrest in the death, charging Fredrick Richardson with voluntary manslaughter.

The second season of the guilty pleasure has followed the pair as they planned their wedding, raised their collective seven children (six of which are A.J.'s) and dealt with constant disapproval by Kandi's mother.
