This would have been some trial.

In the days after Chris Brown was arrested for hitting and choking Rihanna in the wee hours of Feb. 8, word spread that it wasn't the first time the "Run It" artist had gotten rough with his pop-star girlfriend.

Generally, tongues don't wag for nothing and, sure enough, Brown was involved in two previous incidents "related to domestic violence" before he was busted this year, according to a probation officer's report filed today for the singer's sentencing and obtained by the Los Angeles Times.

As if we didn't already know that the 20-year-old R&B hitmaker has quite the temper...

The first offense cited occurred in Europe about three months before his arrest. Per the report, he and Rihanna were engaged in a "verbal dispute" when she slapped him and he responded by shoving her into a wall.

The report also states that, in January, Brown and Rihanna were vacationing in Barbados and got into an argument while they were riding around in a borrowed Range Rover. No injuries were reported, but Brown got out of the vehicle and smashed the driver and front-passenger-side windows.

At some point the duo had the car repaired and the incident went unreported at the time.

But Rihanna and those close to her have had a lot of time to talk to authorities since Brown was busted for attacking her on the eve of the Grammy Awards while they were pulled over in a rented Lamborghini in Hancock Park.

The "Disturbia" singer agreed to cooperate with prosecutors and was willing to testify against Brown, according to her attorney, but Brown cut a deal that precluded a trial.

The fallen R&B star was formally sentenced today to five years' probation, 180 days of community labor and 52 weeks of domestic-violence counseling.

And despite objections from both camps, the judge extended a stay-away order that prohibits Brown from coming within 100 yards of Rihanna until 2014.
