Audrina Patridge wants to waltz.

Unfortunately, she may not be allowed to.

Source tells me that The Hills reality star has agreed to compete on the new season of Dancing With the Stars, but the folks over at MTV have apparently shot down her dreams of going after the disco-ball trophy.

What's going on? Read on to find out...

"They won't let Audrina do it," one sources. "They told her it would be impossible because of scheduling conflicts."

However, I'm told The Hills don't usually shoot on Mondays and Tuesdays, the two days Audrina would have to be at DWTS for the performance and elimination shows.

"Audrina wants to do it. Everyone around her wants her to do it," the source said. "But MTV, for some reason, won't make it happen. Why wouldn't they want someone from The Hills on such a huge show?"

Audrina is currently developing her own reality show for MTV with über-producer Mark Burnett.

Said the source, "Dancing With the Stars would give MTV all this exposure, but they won't budge."

Other celebs rumored to be possible contenders in season nine include Vera Wang, Dean McDermott, Lou Ferrigno and, per an Us magazine report earlier today, La Toya Jackson.

A rep for DWTS declined to comment on casting. An official announcement comes Monday on Good Morning America. A rep for MTV did not immediately comment.

We're not sure about Audrina's fancy footwork abilities, but with a body like hers, she seems like a perfect fit for DWTS—at least for the show's skimpy, barely there costumes.

________

Audrina may not be having much luck with Dancing With Stars, but at least things are going well in the romance department.
