JoJo Siwa is reflecting on a personal milestone.
The YouTube star, 19, reposted the photo that she shared two years ago when she first told the world she's a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.
"2 years ago today," she wrote on Instagram Jan. 21 alongside a rainbow of heart emojis and the pic, which showed her wearing the "Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever." T-shirt that she'd received from her cousin. "Now looking back on everything…. I'm SO proud of 17 year old JoJo."
JoJo came out in January 2021.
"Now that the world gets to see this side of my life, it makes me really, really happy," she said in a message to her fans at the time. "I've been happy in this land for a minute now. And now though that I just get to share that with the world, it's awesome. And I'm just so happy, and it's just so amazing. And I want people to know that there is so much love in the world."
Less than two weeks later, she debuted her relationship with Kylie Prew. The couple broke up in October 2021. And after a brief reconciliation in 2022, they parted ways later that year. JoJo then went on to date Avery Cyrus; however, they split in December after a few months together.
In 2021, JoJo competed on Dancing With the Stars and became the first female celebrity to dance with a female pro, Jenna Johnson. The duo won second place on season 30.
"For the first time in Dancing With the Stars history, I am dancing with another female, and I'm really, really proud," JoJo said at the time, per People. "I came out in early 2021 and what I love to do is make truly being who you are easier for kids."
And she hopes she can continue to be an inspiration for others to live as their true selves.
"Truthfully I feel like I was put on this earth to be a role model for kids, and letting all the kids of the world know that loving everyone for who they are no matter what is something that I will always believe in and always share," the "D.R.E.A.M." singer wrote in part of a post celebrating her coming out anniversary last year. "Please never forget that no matter who you are, what you look like, who you LOVE that you are absolutely perfect."
