Jackson Autopsy Inconclusive, Cause of Death Still Pending

Coroner says cause of death won't be given for four to six weeks, pending the results of toxicology tests

It's not surprising. These things usually take much more time.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office said Thursday that the autopsy performed on Michael Jackson was, as yet, inconclusive, and that an official cause of death will not be determined until the toxicology tests come back.

In six to eight weeks.

Spokesman Craig Harvey did say that there were no signs of foul play or trauma to the body and that Jackson was taking unspecified prescription medications at the time of his death.

The announcement comes following a private meeting between county officials and Jackson's family.

But though the answers people are seeking are still beyond their grasp, Jackson's body is due to be released to his family later today.

The much-mourned King of Pop was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. yesterday, about two hours after suffering cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home.
