Unlike Jack Bauer, Kiefer Sutherland has apparently realized that diplomacy can achieve a desired result faster than aggressive physical tactics.

A day after the 24 star admitted on TV to some regretful behavior on his part, the actor's rep says Sutherland is sorry about what went down between him and Proenza Schouler designer Jack McCollough earlier this month, and that the two have buried the hatchet.

McCollough wishes Sutherland well, too, the rep added.

The 42-year-old Emmy winner is due in a New York court June 22 to answer to a misdemeanor assault charge for allegedly head-butting McCollough at a Met Costume Institute Gala afterparty (supposedly while avenging a perceived slight to Brooke Shields), but their reconciliation could pave the way for a dismissal.

Sutherland said on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Thursday that the altercation is something "I really regret having happened."
