It ain't exactly Shakespeare (okay, we'll come clean, it's Playboy), but Hugh Hefner's "Playmate for a lifetime," estranged bunny/wife Kimberly, can't seem to decide if she wants to stay hitched to Hef or hop off into singlehood.
Late yesterday afternoon, the 34-year-old ex-centerfold filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. An hour later, she and her 71-year-old hubby issued a joint statement saying the court petition was a mistake.
"This filing took place in a moment of misunderstanding. We are still exploring a reconciliation, and neither of us wants a divorce," the statement read.
A Playboy mouthpiece spins it this way: Kimberly and Hugh got into a tiff last week. She signed the petition but "then they made up, and she forgot to tell the lawyer to stop." The flack says the divorce papers have been withdrawn.
Despite Hef's proclamation that he was giving up his swinging ways and making Kim his "Playmate for a lifetime" when they married in 1989, all has not been happy in bunnyland. The couple announced a trial separation in January. At the time, Kim took the kids (Martson, 7, and Cooper, 6) and moved into a house next door to the Playboy mansion.
