On Tuesday, Lee pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery for injuring a video cameraman outside Johnny Depp's Viper Room two years ago.
In return, Beverly Hills Municipal Court Judge Elden Fox ordered Lee to enter a 12-hour anger-management program and pay $17,500 in restitution to the victim, Henry Trappler, who suffered a broken pelvis and a fractured left rib in the attack.
Lee must also perform more than 250 hours of community service or pay about $5,000 in fines by March 11.
The drummer got into this mess as he and his wife, former Baywatch star Pamela Lee, exited the celebrated West Hollywood nightclub in April 1996. The camcorder-wielding Trappler stepped into their path and, like any self-respecting rock star, Lee slugged him.
Now, Tommy, tell the group, how does that make you feel?
To put it in Lee's words, of course, the matter isn't even f****** close to being f****** over. He's now got to deal with a civil suit, which will be litigated by high-profile feminist attorney Gloria Allred--who loves photographers. That trial could get underway by April.
In fact, according to wire reports, Allred asked Judge Fox to "send a message" to Lee "that even celebrities have responsibilities."
Allred says her client was hospitalized for four days and had to use a cane for two months after his struggle with the chain-smoking, profoundly tattooed, stick-twirling percussionist.
He was also unable to return to his paparazzi job because of "post-traumatic stress disorder," Allred adds.
Lee's attorney, Charles English, says his client received no special celeb treatment. "If he had not been a celebrity," English claims, "he would have done a lot better."
Besides, he adds, "[Trappler] was the one that attacked. He's the paparazzi that hangs around outside celebrity hangouts, hoping to get a picture. He got right in the face of Tommy Lee. His tape shows him inches from Tommy Lee."
Of course, no one's really suggesting that Lee couldn't use some anger-management therapy.
Just last month, Lee and bandmate Nikki Sixx were arrested in Phoenix on misdemeanor assault charges after they allegedly tackled a security guard at a concert, allowing fans to rush the stage and wreak $15,000 worth of damage to the America West Arena.
Yeah, Tommy will probably thank the judge for helping him find a way to control his temper--especially when he discovers another Pamela low-grade porno video is out.
Get set, sex fans, because Internet Entertainment Group--the guys selling the world-famous Tom and Pamela Sex Tape--say they found 45 minutes of footage featuring Pamela doing all sorts of nasty, shaved stuff with another hair-bander, Bret Michaels.
Pamela used to, er, date the former Poison lead singer turned Charlie Sheen film director before finding Mr. Right.
The tape, available January 26 and obtained through a "non-disclosed, authorized source," according to IEG, "is all sex and is going to be a collector's item for the true voyeur."
Like Pam & Tommy Lee Hardcore and Uncensored, the Bret-Pamela video will be available in VHS, DVD and video CD formats from video stores nationwide. It can also be viewed directly off the site.
Of course, you can just wait around for the inevitable Scott Baio video to become available--Pamela used to date him, too.
