"His talent is really clear," Uma Thurman once said of lover Ethan Hawke. "It doesn't take a microscope."

Apparently not. Ms. Thurman is with Mr. Hawke's child, a publicist for the actor confirmed to E! Online's Ted Casablanca Monday. The little bouncing bundle due in May.

"Uma and Ethan are overjoyed," a source, identified as "one pal," tells today's New York Daily News.

According to the newspaper, former model Thurman has taken to (gasp!) "wearing baggier and baggier clothes," a sure sign of the couple's forthcoming progeny. The Pulp Fiction actress has reportedly sworn her family to secrecy on her delicate condition.

The leading Generation X-era movie-star couple, both aged 27, have been an item since meeting on the set of the sci-fi thriller Gattaca in 1996.

"Until Gattaca, we'd never crossed paths," Thurman told E! Online. "I only saw him in Reality Bites. I had heard good things, and I knew he had his own theater company and was an innovative and talented person."

Thurman was previously married to actor Gary Oldman. Hawke is a lifelong bachelor. Both have dismissed the notion that they are ready to do the ring exchange with each other.

"No, no, no," Thurman told a reporter last fall. "You're crazy to ask that question."

Headed to the altar or not, both sound smitten. Even the ultra-private Hawke.

"To speak about any intimacy we might share is kind of disrespectful to her," Hawke told E! Online. "But obviously, she is a very impressive woman....She's got a lot going on."

Hawke will next be seen on screen in a new adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations; Thurman in the big-screen adaptation of TV's The Avengers, with Ralph Fiennes.
