Arnold Schwarzenegger's usually waifish newswoman wife Maria Shriver gave birth to a baby of Schwarzeneggerian proportions this weekend in Los Angeles--a whopping 9 1/2-pound boy, according to the couple's publicist, Catherine Olim.
"Mother and baby are in great shape and resting well. Everyone is ecstatic," Olim said. The Terminator hung out in the delivery room (like the doctors' were going to make him leave) to cheer on the birth.
So far, the bulging babe, who came into the world at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, is nameless. He's the fourth kid (second boy) in the Schwarzenegger brood. The couple has been married since May 1986.
It wasn't an easy pregnancy for Shriver. She was briefly hospitalized for complications earlier this year. Then, shortly after Schwarzenegger had heart surgery, the couple's Mercedes was rammed by two renegade photographers as they were driving their older son to school.
Neither Shriver nor Schwarzenegger were injured in the attack. The paparazzi were later charged with false imprisonment and battery.
