It's Alan Jackson versus Vince Gill in a clash of country music titans, as nominations for the TNN Music City News Country Awards were announced Wednesday. The two singers led all challengers for the fan-voted honor, not to be confused with the more prestigious Country Music Association awards.

Jackson chalked up seven nods in all, including the top trophy for entertainer of the year, an award he's won four years in a row, best male vocalist, which he's collected five consecutive years, and best album.

His main competition for those awards will be CMA darling Gill, who picked up six nominations in all. The two singers will square off against comeback kid Billy Ray Cyrus, old-timer George Strait and perennial fave Reba McEntire for the title of country's top entertainer.

Teen phenom LeAnn Rimes, already a veteran of the awards circuit, is up for three prizes, including best single for "Blue" and female star of tomorrow.

Trophies will be presented June 16 during a ceremony at the Grande Ole Opry House and broadcast on TNN.
