The First Wives Club might soon be heading south to hawk cold cream. In an attempt to get 'em while they're hot, United Artists is negotiating with Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton and Bette Midler to star in the big-screen comedy Avon Ladies of the Amazon.

The studio is hoping the triumvirate will be able to repeat their $100 million First Wives Club triumph with Avon Ladies--a story about the fast-growing market in hut-to-hut sales for Avon goods in the jungles of South America.

If they agree to sign on, the trio, which recently scored big playing zany revenge-bent ex-wives, will play zany, sales-bent Avon ladies. The movie was originally written years ago by Jane Anderson, author of the acclaimed HBO movie The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom. Anderson based her treatment on a People magazine article.

No deal has been inked yet, says a UA spokesman, but Hawn, Keaton and Midler are apparently interesting in teaming up on screen again.
