Details of the marriage were hush-hush, but the latest from Down Under has Jackson and his bride, Debbie Rowe, sleeping off the wedding party in their posh hotel suite.
There's also no word on honeymoon plans; however, Rowe is expected to move into Jackson's Neverland Ranch near Santa Barbara, California, when she returns home.
His publicist says that the entertainer married Rowe, the expectant mother of his child, in Sydney, Australia (where Jackson is on tour) just past midnight local time (that's 10 a.m. ET).
"Please respect our privacy and let us enjoy this wonderful and exciting time," Michael, 38, tells the world in the release.
We suspect that Jackson is going through with the shotgun ceremony to help secure the pope's blessing for the expected Prince of Pop. Rowe, 37, has been quoted as saying Jackson wants the pontiff to bless Junior when he arrives in February.
Previously, Rowe--who works for Dr. Arnold Klein, "skin doctor to the stars" and Jacko's dermatologist--had reportedly said she would only bear the baby as a favor to her friend and leave the childrearing to Gloved One and a battery of nurses.
This will be the second marriage for both. Rowe was previously married to a California teacher, and they divorced in 1990. Of course, everyone knows about the ill-fated union between the King of Pop and Lisa Marie Presley. After the couple's clandestine nuptials in 1994, Jackson told PrimeTime Live that he wanted to start a family. That fizzled when Presley filed for divorce in January, citing irreconciable differences.
In 1993, Jackson was plagued by child molestation charges. While never charged criminally, the singer did settle a civil lawsuit with a 13-year-old boy and his family for $15 million or more.
