When it comes to Hollywood stars stepping into the role of state governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan have famously moved from acting to politics. Now it appears that Batman himself may be considering a run for the governor’s seat in his home state, New Mexico. The current governor, Democrat Bill Richardson, must step down in 2011 when his second term comes to an end, and apparently he has his eyes on Val Kilmer as a successor.

“I like the idea,” stated Richardson. “Val Kilmer is a New Mexican, he was Batman...if he jumps in a race he's got name ID, so it can't be discounted.”

Democratic insiders are said to be excited about the potential Kilmer move. “It’s really a boon for the party,” said one source. “If we can just get Val to shoot animals from helicopters and ban a few books, after two years in the governor’s chair he’ll be ready for the White House.”
