Turns out we may get to find out how I met your father after all!
Nearly three years after the end of How I Met Your Mother, there's a spinoff in the works, but it's not the spinoff you may think you already heard about. Just after the end of the series, there was a pilot called How I Met Your Dad, starring Greta Gerwig (who talks about the show in the video above) and written by HIMYM executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, along with Emily Spivey.
CBS shockingly decided not to pick that pilot up, and now the whole concept is getting a rewrite from This Is Us co-executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, E! News has confirmed. Bays and Thomas will serve as executive producers.
The new pilot will be called How I Met Your Father, and will once again be told from a female perspective, but it's not a typical spinoff, since it has no connection to the original show other the basic premise. Deadline, who first reported the news, described it as a "brand new take on the premise with new characters and new writers."
While this is just a pilot script at 20th TV right now, it sounds pretty promising...as long as they don't decide to divorce our favorite couple and kill off the dad in the finale or anything. (We're not still bitter at all!)
