Grey's, you heartless jerk.

We had really been rooting for Amelia and Owen. Both of them really needed something good in their lives, and their marriage, however much they rushed into it, really seemed like it just might work. Then, Amelia told Owen she didn't want kids, and Owen took off.

He returned in tonight's midseason finale, but Amelia made the decision to let him go, with a letter reading, "Don't make this all your fault. I know you. That's what you do, but please, please don't do that."

Hopefully they can work through this, but kids is a topic it's pretty important to agree upon in a marriage, so there might not be hope here.

In some better or worse news, Jo finally told Alex the truth, like she should have done forever ago. She explained that she's married to an abusive jerk, and that as soon as she testifies, he'll be able to find her.

Of course, Alex's solution was to immediately sacrifice himself. He planned to plead guilty before the trial even started, and take the two years in jail, and he was just about to do it until he got a voicemail from Meredith.

She had been absolutely livid at his plan, and refused to lose him. As she pointed out, of the original five interns, it was just the two of them left, and she couldn't let it just be her.

The episode ended right after Alex listened to Meredith's voicemail, and just as the DA was ready to see him, so we'll have to wait to find out what happened.

Do you think Alex will go through with his plan? Are Amelia and Owen done forever? Sound off in the comments!

Grey's Anatomy returns Thursday, January 19 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
