James Lafferty is no stranger to bats*** crazy drama, having starred on Mark Schwahn's basketball soap One Tree Hill for nine seasons. He recently reunited with Schwahn to direct an episode of the OTH guru's E! soap, The Royals--so he's up on the craziness of that fictional world, too.
But which one has the most tolerable insane plot twists? E! News put Lafferty to the test when we sat down with him to discuss his Royals episode, which airs Sunday, via a brand new game: Would You Rather, One Tree Hill vs. The Royals?
The premise was simple: Present the actor-director with comparable situations from each show, and have him choose which terrible situation he'd rather deal with in real life.
For example: Would he rather play basketball (U-S-A! U-S-A!) or polo (how British)? But that was an easy one compared to the questions we posed as we went along.
To wit: Would he rather his significant other have an affair with his brother or his mother? Would he rather battle a psycho nanny or uncover a dangerous conspiracy? Would he rather have a condom water balloon fight with Dave Navarro or smoke a joint with the Queen of England? (Yes, both of those things happened on their respective shows.)
And, of course, the greatest question of all: Would he rather watch a dog eat a human heart or a grown man eat a swan?
